Students who wish to improve their English language skills now have the chance to do so through the art of movie making. This programme allows young learners at our Dublin Residential Summer Centre the opportunity to combine the General English course with four hours per week of Movie Making taught by a Film and Media professional

Programme information

Our Showbiz English programme is an add-on course offered at our Dublin Residential summer centre. This option provides students with 18.3 hours of English tuition per week. In addition to the Standard Programme, students who choose the Showbiz option will spend two hours on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons making a mini-movie. 

Students will work in small groups to produce their final video project. Easch student will take on one of the essential roles:director, screenwriter, cameraman, editor, and actors. Together, students will come up with the idea for their movie, and with the help of the instructor, they will learn how to go about making it. 

This programme is for students who want to see an improvement in their spoken English, while having lots of fun and learning the art of Movie Making - from storyboarding to basic lighting, setting the scene, filming and editing. 

Each participant will be given a copy of their final production and, with their permission we will feature it in the Talent Show. 

Our instructors are Film & Media professionals, who have experience in all aspects of the movie making process, and in teaching these skills to students.

Requirements

This programme is available only at our Dublin Residential Summer Centre. 

Students will need their own camera phone and will be encouraged to download i-Movie on their phone. 

A minimum of 6 students are required to run this course.
