Shared Homestay*
Over the years, we have built strong relationships with our homestay hosts, many of whom have been welcoming our students for more
than 10 years. Often students return to the same host family for two
or three years in a row and form strong relationships with their “Irish
family” during the rest of the year.
All our host families are within walking distance of the school and students can walk to and from the school with their other friends who live in the same area.
Families provide full-board accommodation - breakfast, packed lunch and dinner each day. Each week, towels and bedding are changed, laundry wash is provided as well as cleaning.
What to pack
Some warm clothing (for colder days and nights)
A waterproof jacket (for rainy days)
Comfortable shoes (for walking tours and visits to the coast)
An old pair of trousers and t-shirts (for the visit to Causey farm)
An adaptor (Europe to UK/Ireland) - for all their electronic/charging needs
*There is a very limited number of host families who have single rooms. If
a student particularly wants a single room, it is best to tell us about this as
soon as possible and we will do our very best to accommodate them, but spaces are very limited.
Students at our Dublin Homestay Centre (formerly Alpha Young Learners Homestay Programme) can look forward to an engaging programme of both daytime and evening activities. There will also be two half-day excursions per week to various locations. These excursions enable students to explore and experience the Irish culture on a greater scale. We encourage students to practise their English by talking to the new friends they have made on the programme as well as staff and people they meet on their travels.
